Gary Alan Garcia, Associate AIA, founder and principal, is the creative vision on all projects at Garcia Design Associates. He established his practice in Houston on January 01, 2006. Gary is a proud fifth generation Texan, grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas and moved to the Houston Metropolitan area in 1989. He holds a Professional Bachelors Degree of Architecture from the University of Houston’s Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design in 1994. Prior to establishing his practice, he was a senior associate and project designer and manager for the Eubanks Group Architects for 10 years and worked for fine Architectural firms such as: Colby Design, Curtis and Windham Architects, John Rogers Architects and Longoria/Peters Architects. His duties included, among others, management of personal and architectural projects including remodel, renovation, restoration, and new construction of high-end residential, high-end high-rise condominium build-outs and high-end commercial interior build-outs. He has over 33 years of experience working in the architectural field. He is a visiting design critic at the College of Architecture and Design at the University of Houston, and is an active member of the American Institute of Architects, Houston Chapter. He is on the Board of Directors for Wonder Works, a non-profit organization that provides high school students in the Houston area with pre-college learning experiences in fine arts, literature, and media. He is a member of Rice Design Alliance, a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of architecture and urban design in Houston. Houston MOD a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting knowledge and appreciation of modern architecture and design in Houston and Texas.
